This Thursday the
Cardinals take on Rutgers in the latest match up of Big
East unbeatens in the most exciting season in Cardinal football history.
Petrino
Previews Thursday's Showdown
Louisville
football head coach Bobby Petrino and junior quarterback Brian
Brohm met the media recently to preview the upcoming Big East road
showdown with unbeaten Rutgers. The Cards and Scarlet Knights will
tangle at 7:47 p.m. ET at Rutgers Stadium
(televised by ESPN).
Can't
be at Rutgers? Attend a game-watch party
Don't miss out! If
you can't be there live, attend a game-watch party in your area hosted
by UofL's regional alumni clubs.
UofL
freshman Patrick Henry Hughes was born blind and unable to walk. But
that doesn’t stop this talented musician and Spanish major
from playing trumpet in the UofL Marching Band. His father, Patrick John
Hughes, navigates his son’s wheelchair, keeping up with the band
while his son wows the crowd with his sound. Listen to National
Public Radio’s interview with the Hughes.

it back for Homecoming? Check out President James Ramsey’s
State of the University Address online, available in text
or multimedia format.
What started as an
idea for a dessert wine recently turned into a winning business plan
for UofL graduate business students. Team RJS received $24,000 at the
Aleris Rolled Products New Venture Competition. Its winning concept
was Rhythm, a premium citrus-flavored liqueur with the characteristics
of an energy drink. The money will be used to help the students launch
the startup company.
The
Cardinal. The Thinker. The Bell Tower. What’s missing from
this list of UofL icons? It’s the white squirrel, of course. Playing
off their popularity, the Admissions Office recently introduced the “I
Spotted the White Squirrel” contest for prospective students. Would-be
students who send in a photo of a white squirrel get a “squirrel
spotter” T-shirt.
Derby
tradition mingled with biomedical research Nov. 6 as UofL dedicated
a new diabetes research lab on its Health Sciences Campus. The Barnstable
Brown Research Laboratory, part of UofL’s Institute for Cellular
Therapeutics, was named to honor the Barnstable Brown Foundation, which
raises funds for diabetes research through its famed Kentucky Derby
party.
Summer
is long gone and the school year keeps moving along. But are you still
having trouble getting the young ones out of bed in the morning? They
may be tired. But they also could be suffering from a sleep disorder.
Pediatrics professor Valerie Crabtree works with children and their nighttime
problems.
For
the first time in the 22-year history of the UofL women's soccer program,
the Cardinals will play in the NCAA Tournament, it was
announced Monday. UofL, which has established a school record
with 13 wins on the season, will face Duke on Friday in Knoxville,
5:30 p.m. ET. The winner will meet the winner of a Friday match between
host Tennessee and UAB on Sunday.
Searching
for a gift for a UofL graduate or fan? The University Club is offering
a special holiday promotion for new members who sign up between Dec.
1-31. The initiation fee for joining on Dec. 1 is $1 and increases a
dollar a day, to $31 on Dec. 31. Or sign up before the club’s
