Metts family at the autism center |
STAR
Program Offers Hope for Autism
When Jenny and David Metts' 18-month-old baby was diagnosed
with Autism Spectrum Disorder, they found few resources
available in Louisville to treat children with this disorder.
That's when Harrison's grandmother, Sandy Metts Snowden,
stepped in and began raising funds and awareness. Her involvement
resulted in the creation of U of L's STAR Program which
is the only comprehensive autism center in the state offering
treatment, research and advocacy and training for parents
and caregivers.

It's Art: and I Like It
It's beautiful, it's challenging--and it's free. It's art, and
it comes in all shapes, sizes and colors at the Allen R. Hite
Institute in U of L's Department of Fine Arts. The Hite galleries'
eclectic array of exhibitions this winter and spring should please
all aesthetic palettes. Roman funerary monuments, handmade paper
masterpieces, fiber creations, photographs and Taiwanese art
are just a few of the offerings.
