Barely Visible Tacks Could Aid Eyesight
Dust in the eye can be annoying, but U of L bioengineer Scott Cambron’s dust-sized titanium tacks could be just what some visually challenged people need. Cambron is part of a U of L team of medical scientists and engineers working with researchers at Harvard University on retinal implants to improve vision. Cambron’s tacks will be used by researchers to attach retinal implants to the back of a patient's eye.

U of L Unveils First Edition of 'Moby-Dick'
In her acclaimed 1999 bestseller Ahab’s Wife, U of L English professor and Kentucky poet laureate Sena Naslund contemplated how the spouse of Captain Ahab from Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick might have lived. Now U of L has acquired a rare first-edition copy of Moby-Dick. The announcement of the book’s acquisition in April is part of a series of events celebrating University Libraries, including the impending attainment of a 2 millionth volume and completion of a major facility expansion.
