Own
a Piece of Parkway Field History
Historic Parkway Field is now a refurbished, multi-use
sports field enjoyed by students day and night throughout the
year. In its storied past, dating from its construction in 1923,
the field's turf was pounded by the likes of Pee Wee Reese, Joe
DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Johnny Unitas and Jackie Robinson.
The field's wall was razed in 2004, but a limited number of its
outfield-wall bricks have been preserved and can be yours. Each
Parkway Field commemorative brick is encased in a distinctive
hardwood maple and Plexiglas case. A certificate of authenticity
and booklet about the field and related Louisville sports history
are included. All proceeds from your tax-deductible gift will
benefit the ongoing U of L campus beautification projects.
For more information and to purchase your own piece of sports
history, call Rachel Mulloy at 502-852-8811 or visit

Bioengineering Helps Find Answers for Battered Kids
Pediatrician Mary Clyde Pierce has heard firsthand just about every story there
is to tell about how children got their bruises, cuts and broken bones. Sadly, many of them are
just that--stories. But proving or disproving child abuse requires more than just guessing.
It requires science.

Nearly
two million people in the United States suffer from macular degeneration
and resulting vision loss. Experts expect that number to triple over
