Paige Battcher, a senior finance major from Louisville, is one of seven UofL students to be awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship in 2008. Seven UofL students and alumni have been selected to teach abroad and research such topics as the nervous system and animal welfare issues through the Fulbright Program, a federally sponsored international educational exchange. UofL students have won 27 Fulbrights in six years, including seven last year. |

Fine arts chair receives 2008 UofL Trustees Award |

James Grubola received the 2008 UofL Trustees Award at the May 2008 commencement ceremony. Grubola is chair of UofL's fine arts department, head of its drawing program and director of the Hite Art Institute. The award is given annually to a professor who makes outstanding contributions to students. Grubola's nominator, a former student, praised him for his guidance, encouragement and assistance. |

Drinking green tea may help minimize memory problems and confusion associated with sleep disorders, according to a study published by UofL researchers. The study found that compounds in green tea seem to make the brain less susceptible to oxygen loss caused by sleep-disordered breathing, supporting other research that suggests green tea may have therapeutic value. |

Researchers at the UofL James Graham Brown Cancer Center have confirmed a link between the human papillomavirus and head and neck cancer. These findings indicate that current vaccines, which protect against the HPV 16 virus, could prevent a large number of head and neck cancer cases. |

An exhibition of 38 posters printed during the Chinese Cultural Revolution is on display through June 28 at UofL's Cressman Center for Visual Arts, 100 E. Main St. The collection is on loan from the Crane House and was organized by curatorial studies student Youn Ju Yu. As part of the exhibition, there will be a screening of the documentary "To Live," about the life of a Chinese family in the 1940s-1960s June 6 and a panel discussion June 14. |
