Couple dances for health, finds more than exercise

Couple dancing

Tongalp and Gülgün Tezel, UofL professors and research scientists, had dabbled in ballroom dancing in their native Turkey. But a few years ago, they found a reason to take it up seriously: Tongalp had high cholesterol, and his physician recommended exercise. They settled on dancing. The couple placed first in the 2007 and 2008 National Championships in the American Rhythm, International Latin and American Smooth dance categories.
