Robert Mattingly ’99

Robert Mattingly began practicing law in 1999 after earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Shortly thereafter, he became a founding partner of the law firm DeCamillis & Mattingly, where he has practiced law for over 25 years.

Rob is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of Indiana. He is an experienced trial attorney who has tried both criminal and civil cases in the State District Courts, State Circuit Courts and Federal District Courts. He has also practiced appellate advocacy in both the Kentucky Appellate Courts and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Of all his work, Rob is most proud of his long-standing membership in the Kentucky Justice Association, where he has served on the Executive Committee for nearly 10 years and is a former president of the organization. In this position, he works closely with the Legislature on a range of issues affecting the Seventh Amendment right to trial by jury. Additionally, he is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association and the American Justice Association.

During his career, he has earned numerous awards and accolades as a distinguished trial lawyer and professional, including recognition from the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. In 2014, he was also appointed by the Kentucky Attorney General as a board member of the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.

Drawing on his experience as a trial lawyer, Rob frequently speaks at continuing education events across the Commonwealth, sharing the insights he has gained through his work. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, teaching both Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy classes.

More recently, Rob was appointed to the Regional Board of Directors of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), which oversees a multi-state area supporting the organization's mission. Rob was awarded the 2025 Peter Pearlman Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Kentucky Justice Association and was the inaugural winner of the 2026 Kentucky State Police Foundation Judy Taylor Philanthropy Leadership Award.
