Gene Forrest Price '80, '88

Rear Adm. Gene F. Price (Ret.), served in the U.S. Navy for 36 years, retiring in October 2022. An intelligence and information warfare officer, he served as Deputy Commander of Fleet Cyber Command and the U.S. Tenth Fleet at Fort Meade MD, Commander of the Office of Naval Intelligence and Director of the National Maritime Intelligence Office, in Suitland MD, Commander of Naval Information Forces Reserve in Fort Worth TX, and Vice Commander of Naval Information Forces in Suffolk VA. He also served as the National Intelligence Manager for the Maritime, where he was responsible for coordinating maritime intelligence, domain awareness, and information sharing across the U.S. government.

Rear Admiral Price is a veteran of three wars; he deployed to U.S. Sixth Fleet to support the War in Kosovo in 1999, to U.S. European Command in 2001-02 to support the invasion of Afghanistan and Balkan peace operations, to U.S. Fifth Fleet in the Persian Gulf and Iraq to support Iraq operations in 2003, and to Afghanistan as Director of Intelligence for Region North in 2011-12. Price was selected as the U.S. Navy's senior representative for the 58th Presidential Inauguration in 2017 and was awarded a number of medals and recognitions. 

Holding undergraduate and Law degrees from UofL, he is a very proud Cardinal and has had football season tickets for over 40 years, including every year he was away on active duty.  His wife Diane retired from UofL as a microbiologist, and they have six children and three grandchildren, who live from New York City to Louisville to the San Francisco Bay Area. They reside in Louisville, where he is an attorney with FBT Gibbons LLP, a national law firm.
