Dale R. Pike ’78, ’80

Dale earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of Louisville in 1978, then went on to graduate from U of L with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing in 1980.

After graduation, he began working at the Louisville VA Medical Center, where he specialized in diagnostic and interventional cardiology services. He developed policies, procedures and staff training for several groundbreaking programs, which were then replicated in other VA Medical Centers throughout the nation. He has also spoken nationally on the subject of nursing processes in cardiology. Dale retired from the Louisville VA Medical Center in 2017 after serving our country's veterans for 37 years.

Dale never misses an opportunity to talk with young people who are thinking about a career in nursing. He is often heard encouraging them to look at the programs available through the University of Louisville School of Nursing. For Dale, nursing has never been simply a job. It has been a profession and his life's mission.
