Welby Edwards ’69

Welby Edwards earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Louisville in 1969, an education that provided the foundation for a remarkable career in the insurance industry and a lifetime of community leadership. While at UofL, he was a member of Coach Camp's football program from 1965 to 1969, developing the determination and teamwork that would shape his professional and civic endeavors.

Following graduation, Welby began a career with State Farm and recently celebrated 50 years as an agent serving the Jeffersonville community. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service, holding leadership positions as President of the Rotary Club of Southern Indiana, United Way of Southern Indiana, the Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Clark Memorial Hospital, the American College of CLU and the University of Louisville College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Council. His enduring dedication to his alma mater continues through his involvement as a member of the President's Council Emeritus and the Conn Legacy Society.

A devoted supporter of the University of Louisville, Welby enjoys reading, traveling, following Cardinal athletics and remaining active in his community. He is also a member of Southeast Christian Church.

Above all, Welby values family. He and his high school sweetheart, Linda, have shared 57 years of marriage. Together they have built a loving family that includes their son, Marcus, daughter-in-law Mary, a University of Louisville graduate, and grandchildren Grant and Chloe, whose accomplishments and happiness remain among his greatest joys.
